Rahmaan Phillip is violist, violinist, teacher, composer and arranger from Las Vegas, United States. After completing his studies in Music Education, he toured the United States and Asia as a solo artist. In addition to performing with artists such as Lady Gaga, Elvis Monroe, Jeff Mix and the Songhearts, and others, he also made appearances with Imagine Dragons, Gwen Stefani, Shaq, Chaka Khan, and performances for U.S. president Jimmy Carter, Tedx, and also as a featured soloist with professional orchestras. When not performing, Rahmaan is likely teaching one of his violin, viola, cello, or piano students, skateboarding or out in the community connecting with people.

Rahmaan Phillip – Covers in Vietnam

In the beginning of February 2020, I found myself wandering in a tiny coastal fisherman village in Tịnh Kỳ, central region of Vietnam. I had left Đà Nẵng a few days before and I was planning to head all the way to the south of Vietnam, when I received a message from my friend Rahmaan.

He told me that he was thinking about creating some videos of his covers and that he wanted to shoot them in different locations around Đà Nẵng. He then asked me if I would like to help him shoot some of the videos.

I didn’t think about twice. Rahmaan is one of the most talented musicians I have met along the way and there were so many unique and visual appealing places to shoot videos in Đà Nẵng, I immediately got thrilled with the idea, so I turned back and made my way back to Đà Nẵng, which eventually led me to stay in the central region (Đà Nẵng and Hoi An) for one more amazing year.

These are the videos we made together during a few months together in Vietnam.

Shallow - Lady Gaga (Rahmaan Phillip Violin Cover)

The first video we made together was Lady Gaga’s song, Shallow, from the movie a ‘A Star is Born’. The video was shoot in Sơn Trà Peninsula, by the 800-year old Banyan Tree, located in the eastern area of the peninsula. This tree stands 25 meters tall, has 26 aerial roots and it is considered one of the oldest tree of its species in Vietnam.

The second video we shot together was also made in Sơn Trà Peninsula. However, this time, we shot by the monkey cliffs, one of the most beautiful roads to drive in the region. This time, we decided to shoot at sunrise. Special thanks to my good friend Dong Pham for helping me to shoot this video.

Best Part - Daniel Caesar feat. H.E.R (Rahmaan Phillip Violin Cover)

The third and last video we shot was the son Best Part, from Daniel Caesar and H.E.R. We were inspired by the original music video, so we wanted to a one-take shoot at an empty beach. We decided to shoot at Hà My Beach, a peaceful region located between Đà Nẵng and Hội An. Thank to my friends Hoàng Hải and Bảo Lê for shooting the all the video.
